Located just 10 blocks from the University of Texas campus, the neighborhood of Hyde Park in Austin was founded over 100 years ago. The original borders of Hyde Park were 45th Street on the north, Guadalupe on the west, 38th Street on south, and Duval on the east. The north border has been extended to 51st Street over the years, adding six blocks of homes as well as the UT Intramural Fields. Nearby neighborhoods include North Loop to the north, Rosedale to the west, UT to the south and Hancock to the east. All Hyde Park homes are walking distance to a variety of boutique shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and coffee houses. Towering oak and pecan trees line the streets. 

Hyde Park Neighborhood Overview

Although Hyde Park is a small neighborhood, prices can range from the $175s to upwards of $1 million. The City of Austin counts it as a historic treasure, and for good reason. The residences in Hyde Park range from small bungalows to stately Victorian mansions.

Prices on residences depend on several factors, including historical rating, square footage, lot size and the condition of the property. Small bungalows that have been remodeled sell for about $350k-$400k.

There's lots of nearby recreation near Hyde Park. A neighborhood park, Shipe Park, has a public pool and tennis courts. The Hancock Golf Course is a beloved, public, 9-hole course. Athletes of all types, from bodybuilders and weightlifters to professional boxers and distance runners, work out at Hyde Park Gym.

Residents can find nearby shopping at Central Market for gourmet groceries, cooking classes and community events. Also close by is the Hancock Shopping Center at Red River & 41st which features a HEB, coffee shops and a popular deli. Quack's Bakery offers freshly baked breads and treats.

The dining and entertainment scene is another one of Hyde Park's many charms. Residents can find a number of restaurants, coffee shops and bars in the heart of the neighborhood. Local favorites include Hyde Park Bar & Grill, Mother's Cafe & Garden and ASTI Trattoria. Hyde Park Theatre has been offering outstanding live theater productions for almost 20 years, and is host to an annual fringe theater festival, FronteraFest.
