TX Gov. Rick Perry Appoints J.B. Goodwin to TDHCA Post

jb-goodwinJ.B. Goodwin, founder and CEO of JB Goodwin REALTORS® is bringing his years of real estate expertise to the state level. Texas Governor Rick Perry has appointed J.B. along with T. Tolbert Chisum to the board of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA). The prestigious post means that J.B. will be directly addressing Texas housing and community development issues in the state.

J.B. has been involved in numerous high-profile real estate organizations throughout his career. An active member of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR) and Austin Association of REALTORS®, this Austinite has always been a pioneer in his field. His company JBGoodwin REALTORS®, which was founded in 1972, remains the oldest residential real estate firm in Austin. J.B. has also sat on the board of the Austin Symphony, co-chaired the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council, and was past president of the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. We couldn't be happier for him!

Delano Womack Inducted into the Longhorn Hall of Honor

delano-womackDelano Womack was included in the 2014 Men's Hall of Honor Class at the University of Texas. The title, which recognizes "the most distinguished circle of individuals who have made a distinct and lasting contribution to The University of Texas" was awarded to Delano for his achievements in football during his time at UT from 1953-55. Last year, Delano was also inducted into the Texas High School football hall of fame.

Delano will be joining the likes of Doak Walker Award winner Cedric Benson; two-time first team All-American and 2000 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Casey Hampton; two-time All-American Cory Redding; and MVP of the 2002 College World Series Huston Street, who round out the class of 2014. Special selections included legendary basketball coach Rick Barnes, football coach Ken Dabbs, baseball player Mike Beard, and football star Happy Feller.

Delano was accompanied by his wife Margaret during a private ceremony in Austin, TX. Both Delano and Margaret attended UT, and the high school sweethearts have been longtime JB Goodwin agents. Together they have raised 5 children, and are leaving a wonderful legacy for their 16 grand children. In fact their grandson Scott Womack, recently joined JBGoodwin REALTORS® and will be pursuing a promising career in real estate. Congrats Del!
