employee engagementOne of the simplest facts that accounts for Austin's rapid growth over the last few years is that people want to be here. There are a lot of factors that can account for that... heck ask 10 different people on any Austin street and you'll get 10 different answers. Some people will talk live music, others will talk about the food or the weather or less tangible things like the culture or the atmosphere.

All of these are valid reasons to be drawn to a place like Austin. Just last week though, another reason to love our city was made public. For the third year in a row, Austin has ranked in the top 10 cities in the country for employee engagement.

Anyone who follows our blog knows that as an organization, we here at JB Goodwin value our employees and work hard to make them feel appreciated and enthusiastic about the company's future. We do this by exhibiting leadership and a commitment to improving ourselves on a daily basis through mentoring, investing in technology, and promoting a comfortable, progressive work environment that gives our employees the tools they need to excel. This in turn motivates our employees to provide the industry-leading levels of customer service that we have come to be known for.

Looks like that attitude is spreading to other workplaces in Austin, and we here at JB Goodwin couldn't be more pleased. Quantum Workplace published its annual list of the 10 American cities with the most engaged workplaces, and for the 3rd year running Austin made the cut. In compiling the report, Quantum surveyed American workers throughout 2014 and asked them to report their perceptions of key factors such as teamwork, trust in fellow workers and managers, job satisfaction and benefits. Employees who rated their experience as a 5 or 6 on a 6 point scale are considered to be engaged.

Despite an overall trend downwards in employee engagement across America, Austin employee engagement rated as almost 70% engaged, well above the national average. This is an important indicator of the overall appeal of a city. We all spend a good portion of our daily lives in the workplace - more than we're likely to spend in any live music venue or restaurant (unless you work there of course!) Feeling satisfied and valued as an employee goes a long way towards improving overall quality of life.

We here at JB Goodwin are proud to play a part in advancing the cause of progressive Austin employers and will continue to promote our core values, nurture excellence, and never rest in our efforts to provide the highest caliber of customer service in the real estate business.
