It is bounded by Barton Creek Wilderness Park in the north, Foster Ranch Road to the west, Southwest Parkway to the south, and the Gaines Creek Greenbelt to the east. Bordered on two sides by protected natural spaces, this community finds itself in a rare natural paradise within the city’s borders.

About Real Estate in Travis Country

The main housing type on the Travis Country real estate market is the single-family home. Construction began in Travis Country in the 1970s. Over the next couple of decades, construction in the area continued. Because of this, it is possible to find homes that were built in the 1970s, the 1980s, and the 1990s. There are two main sections of this popular Austin neighborhood. Trailwood Country was where building first began in this community, so that is where buyers will find the highest concentration of homes from the ‘70s and ‘80s. The rest of the community was largely developed in the late ‘80s and ‘90s.

Just because these homes were built a few decades ago does not mean that these homes feel old or are in need of repair. Many of these houses have been in the care of loving homeowners who have done their due diligence and made repairs as necessary over the years. It is also not uncommon for many of the homes to have been renovated to include more modern interior designs.

Travis Country Housing Prices

Most buyers will find this neighborhood fits with their budget. Prices on the Travis Country real estate market begin around $250,000 for a modest family home and can exceed $600,000 for one of the luxury builds in the community. The affordability of this charming community is one of the reasons that it is so popular.

Size is another factor that varies widely in this community. Some of the smaller homes that are more suitable for young couples or small families measure 1,400 square feet while some of the largest houses in Travis Country unfold over 3,000 square feet or more. These expansive builds are ideal for those with large families or those who love to entertain guests. Most homes range from three to five bedrooms.

Travis Country homes for sale are truly a great option for families with kids. These comfortable houses are not only equipped with everything a family needs to thrive inside, they are also accompanied by spacious yards where kids can play, neighbors can connect at backyard barbecues, and dogs can play. Many of the yards in the community are lined by fences. They often include a number of trees that provide shade and privacy through the hot summers too.

Lifestyle In Travis Country

Residents of Travis Country are fortunate to be on the southern border of Barton Creek Wilderness Park. This space is popular for its extensive trail network. Active locals love to visit the park for an afternoon of hiking, mountain biking, or rock climbing. This park is also popular among bird watchers and nature photographers who are eager to drink in the beauty of the area.

The nearby Gaines Creek Greenbelt includes a popular hike and bike trail that extends north all the way to Zilker Metropolitan Park and the Downtown core. Gaines Creek Greenbelt is also the home of the endangered Golden-cheeked warbler, the only bird that can only be found in the state of Texas. On a walk through one of the trails in the area, it is possible to catch a glimpse of these handsome yellow and black birds.

Parks & Recreation In Travis Country

Within the neighborhood itself, residents can enjoy Hilltop Park. There, residents can swim lanes in the pool, practice their swing on the tennis courts, or engage in a friendly game of basketball on the court. A number of trails in the area wind through picturesque treed areas. These paths are the perfect place to walk your dog, enjoy a stroll with your family, or unwind after a long day at work.  

Near the Travis Country Home Owners Association in the east end of the neighborhood, residents will find another pool, six tennis courts and one basketball court. As such, most residents of Travis Country will find that their home is near to a great outdoor space where they can engage in an active lifestyle.
