Welcome to my website. Throughout my career, public service has been my forte. Being a part of JBGoodwin REALTORS® is a continuation of who I am. I’m a firm believer in their mission statement: “Making a difference in People’s lives”. My goal is to continue providing a service to make your experience in buying, selling and leasing fulfilling and gratifying.
I was born and raised in San Diego Texas. Shortly after graduation from high school, I enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon my honorable discharged, I was recruited by the Los Angeles Police Department in Los Angeles, California. During my tenure with the Police Department I received by Associate Degree in Administration of Justice. I continued my education and received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in Public Management….Retired with 25 years of public service.
I moved back to Texas in 1995. I decided to settle in Pflugerville. Commissioned as a Peace Officer, I continued my career as a public servant as an investigator with the Travis County Coroner’s Office, Texas Department of Transportation, Texas Workers Compensation, Texas Department of Insurance and a Reserve Police Officer for Pflugerville Police Department.
In 2004 I became a Deputy Constable with the Travis County Constables Office. My interest in Real Estate became more apparent during my tenure as a deputy constable. I dealt with evictions, foreclosures and other related issues. I had contact with renters who always asked for information regarding buying property. They felt renting was throwing money away. I decided to do some research in the area of Real Estate. It enhanced my knowledge, but more importantly I became a resource for them. That’s been my mission statement: “ Making a difference in People’s lives”.
I completed my course work in Real Estate. I spoke to a number of people in the business to get an idea on what to expect, I was encouraged by their responses. They loved and enjoyed the business. I researched some of the brokers in town. JBGoodwin REALTORS® by far exceeded my expectations. My time in the business has been challenging and fulfilling. I will always be there for you…..
Thank goodness for Ricardo Barrera! He helped me snag a house in the area I wanted, when they were selling faster than we could go look at them!
This is my first house and he turned what I thought would be a terrifying experience into a relatively simple and painless one. I feel like he did all the hard work for me. He guided me through every step of the process. I have learned so much.
Ricardo really bends over backward. He texted me reminders and promptly responded to my texts with answers for all my questions. He was available after hours and even met me at my work to make sure things got signed and done on time.

We can't thank Rick enough for everything he did for us. Besides always being available when we needed him, he made sure and expedited the process so that we wouldn't be stuck in our lease. Buying a house was something that seemed out of our reach, but all our nerves went away when we started working with Rick. Having gone through many home sales in our lifetime, we found this one to be the most challenging that we have ever experienced. But even with all the up and downs of dealing with Buyers Financing issues, Mr. Barrera was undoubtedly the best agent for the job. His calm demeanor, attention to detail, professional manner and solid leadership, were the only reason we made it to our closing. Somehow, he was able to keep a clear focus on our goal of selling our home, even though the Buyers Financing was imploding all around us. Many times, when we thought all was lost, Rick was able to use his leadership skills and vast real estate knowledge to get us to closing.
