Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn about me.
While I am not a native Texan, I have lived in Austin for over 20 years and have no interest in ever leaving. Over the years, I have lived in New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Arizona and of course, Texas. As you can see, I have moved my family across the country twice and have bought and sold several homes in each state, but our love for Austin and all it has to offer has kept us stable for over two decades.
Before becoming a Realtor®, I had a 30+ year career in high technology development and sales. I have successfully served a demanding customer base, including several of the world’s largest OEMs. I have a Masters degree in Engineering and I hold ten US patents. I have a passion for real estate and architecture and that caused me to move away from technology sales. I have owned dramatically different types of properties ranging from new construction to homes over 100 years old. I’ve done major and minor renovations. Once I even moved a house from it’s lot to a new location! In addition to that, I have been a tenant and a landlord. All of this means I understand the real estate industry from many different angles and get excited about using that experience to help others navigate their real estate projects.
On a personal note, I am a live music fanatic and I enjoy riding bicycles around the city. I love spending time with my dogs - a Chinese crested named Taffy and a Great Dane named Layla. Also, I love anything to do with cars and trucks. Many people find it interesting that I own two antique trucks and am a pretty good mechanic!
Our realtor Jim was a godsend in our home buying process. From our first interaction, he was transparent, informative, and professional, which we really appreciated after meeting with other realtors that felt more like they were giving us a sales pitch than helping us find a home. Jim was focused on data and trends rather than gimmicks, and I believe that because of that we were able to buy the first house we put an offer on without getting in some crazy bidding war. Another thing that was very impressive was his organization - whenever something happened, Jim was on top of it and would let us know what was going on and the best way to proceed. He was always very clear about what we needed to do, and it made what is a very complicated process seem routine and simple. – Garrison W.
We ran into Jim Templeton at an Open House, and since that moment Jim has owned our time, given us invaluable perspective on choosing a home, and shared with us hard data on the Austin market that we used to make an informed decision on which home we eventually ended up with. Jim is very flexible, never complained about how many homes we wanted to see, and is a huge house nerd (lol) which translated to always sharing with us key insights on the build of the home, craftsmanship, potential problems, and which homes we wanted to run the other way from fast. I would 100% recommend Jim and JBGoodwin to anyone wanting to buy a home in Austin. I can't imagine anyone more informed and helpful in this process. – Matthew N.
We've actually worked with Jim through a couple of home sales and purchases - he's always been fast and worked hard to help us understand all of the important information and get us good pricing expectations so we can be successful. – Allison. B.
We recently worked with Jim Templeton to sell our central Austin home. Jim was smart, professional, and responsive - helping us in our first time through the home sale process. He takes pride in being an expert in the Austin market and brought no shortage of insight and market data to the table to help us make informed decisions around list price, time on market, etc. We were out of the state for most of the process and his attentiveness made everything still feel seamless. After closing, he even went above and beyond when we had some packages accidentally shipped to our old address after we had already moved out of state - picking them up and keeping them at his house until we could take care of them. All in all, I can confidently recommend working with Jim and his team. – Chris D.
Jim was absolutely amazing to work with. He was informative, friendly, and really put our stress of moving to a new city at ease. Jim's follow-up and thoroughness really made my wife and I feel like we were in great hands. We were able to land a lease in record time. I highly recommend working with him. – Tony A.
Jim was fantastic to work with! He went above and beyond what could be expected and I would definitely recommend him! – G. M.
Jim surpassed all our expectations and was there with us in EVERY step of the process both before and after the purchase. Right from understanding what it takes to buy a property (As first-time owners we were unaware of the process), understanding the landscape of Austin and all its neighboring cities to pick the right place, Narrow down on our search (you can get lost with soo many options), work with the lender, provide valuable insights, Go above and beyond to do his research, WAS VERY WELL PREPARED FOR OUR 2 DAY VISIT TO AUSTIN by having already lined up the houses we needed to see, documented them as well. After our inspection was completed Jim was able to negotiate few items from the seller to be fixed which was a WIN WIN WIN situation for us. Being remote, I would say the sale went really smoothly and again Jim always kept note of our deadlines and sent us reminders so that we don't miss anything. After the sale, Jim also helped us find contractors and coordinate with them to fix the house and make it tenant-ready. I would definitely work again with Jim and have already recommended him to friends and family. There are good agents who do their job right, then come amazing agents who go beyond their duties to provide a good service, AND then comes JIM. If you have him as your agent, you are in good hands. – Saurabh V.
Jim Templeton was awesome, very helpful and kind. – Sheila S.
Jim is amazing! Incredibly communicative and the most knowledgable realtor I've ever worked with. I think it speaks volumes when you return to the same realtor over and over. Jim helped us sell our last home, and helped us find land. Once our new home is finished being built we will use him again to sell our current home. I wholeheartedly recommend Jim to anyone looking to buy or sell in the Austin area. – Justin B.
Jim helped us lock down an awesome two-bedroom in a great neighborhood that fell perfectly within our budget and desires. He was quick to respond to any questions and kept the ball rolling quick from when we first toured the property to signing the lease and beyond as he is now also our neighbor. On the third day we were in the house we got locked out for a few hours and Jim graciously let us relax at his home while we waited for a locksmith. All around a great experience. – Matthew G.
Jim is the best realtor I've ever worked with; he made our home purchase a breeze! His knowledge, responsiveness, and commitment to us throughout the entire process are without parallel. Can't recommend him highly enough! – Chance E.
